Course Description
This course is suitable for all Health Professionals, teachers, parents, and carers. It is designed for those working with, or involved in the care of, any child or young person with long-term health conditions. This comprehensive programme explains the physiology of these conditions, common triggers, signs and symptoms, and how to recognise and treat an acute episode, including the administration of medication.
The course provides helpful support for schools and health professionals in writing Individual Healthcare Plans. This ensures children with medical conditions can play a full and active role in school life, remain healthy, and achieve their academic potential.

- Anaphylaxis: Causes, recognition, treatment, and legislation concerning the administration of Adrenaline.
- Auto-injectors: Comprehensive guidance on how to use and store Adrenaline Auto-injectors.
- Asthma: Physiology, triggers, and the use of preventer and reliever inhalers.
- Diabetes: Understanding “hypos” and hyperglycaemia in a school setting.
- Epilepsy: Recognition of seizures and how to help someone experiencing one.
- Clinical Resources: Links to helpful resources and template Individual Healthcare Plans.
