Welcome to our short course covering the recovery position and first aid for choking.
In this course we will show you:
- How to recognise if someone is unconscious
- How to open their airway
- How to check if they are breathing
- How to put them in the recovery position
- What to do if someone is choking
If someone is unconscious and not breathing, you will need to give CPR. This is covered in another course.
We will be covering some emotive and difficult topics, please feel free to contact us or to speak with your teachers if you find any of the content disturbing or unclear.
At the end of this course you will have the theoretical knowledge to potentially be able to save someone’s life if they are unconscious and breathing, or if they are choking. Ideally you will have a chance to attend a practical course to consolidate your learning and practise these skills properly, putting other people in the recovery position and practising first aid for choking using a choking vest.
